Optimal Estimate of Global Biome—Specific Parameter Settings to Reconstruct NDVI Time Series with the Harmonic ANalysis of Time Series (HANTS) Method

چکیده
Terrestrial remote sensing data products retrieved from radiometric measurements in the optical and thermal infrared spectrum such as vegetation spectral indices can be heavily contaminated by atmospheric conditions, including cloud aerosol layers. This contamination results gaps or noisy observations. The harmonic analysis of time series (HANTS) has been widely used for reconstruction imagery recent decades. To use HANTS model, a parameters, number frequencies (NF), fitting error tolerance (FET), degree over-determinedness (DoD), regularization factor (Delta), need to defined users. These parameters provide flexibilities, but also make it difficult non-expert users determine appropriate settings specific applications. study systematically evaluated performance model under different parameter setting scenarios simulating pixel-wise reference NDVI series. these numerical experiments were further identify optimal improve global performance. suggested areas (local optimization). Harmonic Analysis of Time-Series AVHRR NDVI Data
Harmonic analysis of a one-year time series (26 periods) of NOAA AVHRR NDVI biweekly composite data was used to characterize seasonal changes for natural and agricultural land uselland cover in Finney County in southwest Kansas. Different crops (corn, soybeans, alfalfa) exhibit distinctive seasonal patterns of NDVI variation that have strong periodic characteristics. Harmonic analysis, also ter...
متن کاملA Temporal-Spatial Iteration Method to Reconstruct NDVI Time Series Datasets
Reconstructing normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) time series datasets is essential for monitoring long-term changes in terrestrial vegetation. Here, a temporal–spatial iteration (TSI) method was developed to estimate the NDVIs of contaminated pixels, based on reliable data. The NDVIs of contaminated pixels were first computed through linear interpolation of adjacent high-quality pix...
متن کاملDetection of Breakpoints in Global NDVI time series
Continuous global time series of vegetation indices, which are available since early 1980s, are of great value to detect changes in vegetation status at large spatial scales. Most change detection methods, however, assume a fixed change trajectory – defined by the start and end of the time series – and a linear or monotonic trend. Here, we apply a change detection method which detects abrupt ch...
متن کاملDynamic Harmonic Analysis of Long Term over Voltages Based on Time Varying Fourier series in Extended Harmonic Domain
Harmonics have become an important issue in modern power systems. The widespread penetration of non-linear loads to emerging power systems has turned power quality analysis into an important operation issue under both steady state and transient conditions. This paper employs an Extended Harmonic Domain (EHD) based framework for dynamic analysis of long term analysis over voltages during the tra...
